New Samsung ads troll iPhone 12 Pro Max big time

Samsung and Apple have been major competitors when it comes to their smartphone cameras. And in its latest set of Galaxy S21 Ultra ads, Samsung decided to play dirty. The company calls out on iPhone 12 Pro Max telling the viewers that their “phone upgrade shouldn’t be a downgrade.”

Samsung US published three ads to advertise some of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s key camera features. These include the 100x “space zoom,” 108 MP camera that captures greater detail, and “Single Take,” a feature that captures videos and photos with one click. And in all of the ads, the Galaxy S21 Ultra gets compared with Apple’s latest flagship phone. Needless to say, the ads aren’t really flattering for the iPhone. Take a look:

Now, if you’re on the Samsung team, this ad will make you chuckle. I’m a Huawei user so I’d call myself neutral in this case, but me being me – I’ll still share my opinion on these ads.

Ads like this can generally be pretty funny, but I prefer when the trolling is subtler. In this particular case, I think Samsung went a bit over the top. In fact, I was sure that ads like this were banned and could get the advertiser sued for defamation. But correct me if I’m wrong.

In addition, Samsung used false advertising of its camera capabilities in the past. They even used my photo for it once, you might remember that. Knowing this, bashing a competition brand in the ads seems even lamer. After all, if you’re so sure in your own capabilities, you won’t feel threatened by someone else and try to belittle them.
